Jewelry operates as readily on a spiritual level as on an earthly one, often mediating between the two. This may seem paradoxical given that its raw materials are as earthbound as any: metals or minerals extracted directly from land or sea. Yet the rarity and beauty of these materials-their seeming indestructibility and sheer human effort required to retrieve them-appear to render them miraculous. Accordingly, the objects here celebrate jewelry’s power to facilitate transcendent communication-whether by conjuring spirits, appeasing gods, or invoking ancestors.

The Idea

I want to create a body of work that has a balance of simplicity and great detail. I want my customer to feel that they have found something specially made for them. Look carefully!!! I want you to notice the common thread among the work, and to find the hidden detail that makes the piece yours.

Materials

I use a variety of metals: fine silver, sterling silver, 22k gold, 14k gold, copper, and brass. I also use natural stone beads and African Trading beads to add color and texture. I have also included different types of leather for that super cool combination of softness with metal. I also use semi-precious stones and fresh water pearls to add brilliance and excitement!!

100% Handmade

You can be sure that all my work is done by me in my studio while listening to my radio that I have had since 1995. All fabrication, soldering, and stone setting is done by hand.
